The services are the work of the Inter-Lutheran Commission on Worship which met in the 1960s and early 70s.The ILCW (as it was called) was composed of at least four members representing the Lutheran Church in America, the American Lutheran Church, the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Canada, and the LutheranChurch—Missouri Synod. Several mergers have left the LCMS the onlysurvivor.
